If you’ve ever tried to keep track of Australia’s dance comp scene, you know how difficult it can be to stay on top of what’s coming up and when. It feels like every event organiser has their own page, group, or post somewhere, and it’s easy for important dates to slip through the cracks.
Social media groups are a fantastic resource and a lifesaver when it comes to advice from the community, but they don’t make it easy to search for events by date or location. It’s a lot to juggle, and things can get missed.
That’s exactly why we started this event directory.
Stage Lark was created as a free resource for the dance community – a platform made by dance parents for dance parents. We know firsthand how much time and energy goes into supporting dancers, and we wanted to make something that helps everyone stay organised, informed, and connected.
What and who are we tracking?
Right now, Stage Lark is tracking over 120 event organisers across the country – from regional eisteddfods to some of Australia’s largest national competitions.
Our curated list covers events in every state, from the major metropolitan centres to regional areas. We also invite organisers who aren’t yet listed to add their own events for free, so the directory continues to grow and stay current.
Each month, the directory is updated with new competitions, cross-checked with organisers, and in some cases managed directly by them. We then send out a summary in our newsletter to keep our subscribers informed of events that may be of interest. It’s become a place where parents, students and teachers can see what’s coming up without having to scroll through endless feeds or rely on word-of-mouth.
We try to keep it practical… just the info you actually need, so you can plan ahead, find opportunities, and spend less time searching.
How to use the directory
The directory is simple to use – search by state, date, organiser, or dance genre to find event details and organiser contacts all in one place. The site has been optimised for mobile and includes integrated Google Maps, so you can easily see where each event is held. Listings are updated monthly to keep information current, though details can occasionally change, so it’s always best to confirm directly with organisers if something shifts between updates.
It’s been great to see how quickly the dance community has embraced Stage Lark. Whether you’re a parent planning weekends around comps, a student chasing your next performance, or a teacher trying to keep track of Australia’s dance comp scene, we hope it helps make things a little easier, and your calendar a lot clearer!
Stage Lark is a free resource for the dance community, open for anyone to search and for event organisers to list their competitions, scholarships, and auditions. Thanks for following along and for sharing it with others who might find it useful.
